2020 sees SOLAS III/3 and III/20 new requirements for maintenance of life saving appliances come into effect

New requirements for the maintenance and inspection of lifeboats, rescue boats, launching appliance and launching gear come into effect from 1st January 2020. Amendments to SOLAS III/3 and III/20 introduce mandatory requirements for maintenance and inspection to be carried out by a ‘certified person’ as detailed in Resolution MSC 402(96).
